Originally established in 1978, ACME was until February 2008 the European regional association of the International Cooperative and Mutual Insurance Federation (ICMIF).

With effect from January 2008 ACME and AISAM (the Association Internationale des Sociétés d’Assurance Mutuelle – International Associations of Mutual Insurers) have joined to form AMICE, the Association of Mutual Insurers and Insurance Cooperatives in Europe.

This new entity, AMICE aisbl, has its seat in Brussels and has taken over the activities of ACME and AISAM. It will continue to represent and promote the interests of the European mutual and cooperative insurers. All members of ACME have been invited to join AMICE under a simplified transfer procedure.
